Hemodialysis Technician

A dialysis technician who works with patients is in charge of assembling the machine, making sure it is in working order and ensuring it is sterile.

Introduction:

To instruct individuals in an area of hemodialysis to provide care to clients in either an acute or chronic setting. The program is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge that is needed to become a professional healthcare provider, providing exceptional care.

Employment Opportunities:

The hemodialysis technician works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to both initiate and terminate hemodialysis treatments; treatment is accessed either via catheter (hemodialysis technician accesses as per state regulations), arteriovenous fistula or arteriovenous graft. The hemodialysis technician also assists the nurse with monitoring of patients during treatments.

Salary:

Entry-level wages for are about $13/hour. Actual wages vary according to education, experience, and certifications.
