Diesel Systems Technician Program
Hands-on training supported by theory to provide qualified technicians.
Introduction:
The field of heavy-duty truck & bus mechanics also referred to as diesel engine mechanics is considered a high-skill, high-wage career. Our diesel engine mechanics program is nationally accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education (COE). The program offers 1800 hours of hands-on training and theory, presenting real life experience in preparing graduates to help meet the demands in the areas of truck and bus repairs. In addition, program completers will receive assistance with job placement and financial aid, if they qualify.
Our curriculum offers a sequence of courses that provides content that is aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge along with the skills needed to prepare students for further education and careers in the Transportation, Distribution and Logistics career cluster. This program also provides technical skills proficiency and includes competency-based learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning, problem-solving skills, along with work attitudes, and general employability skills. This program will prepare students to understand the importance of performing proper and complete maintenance of entire vehicles. Upon completing this program, students will perform more accurate and efficient troubleshooting and diagnostics service and repairs, which is crucial to the entire industry. Both owner’s operators and major truck fleets along with all OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) shops.
The course content below includes training in communication, leadership, human relations, and employability skills as well as efficient work practices.

Salary:
The average wage for this career in Florida is $24.00 hourly or $49,920 annually.
Completion Requirements:
The entire program is 1800 hours. Students can earn a certificate at the completion of the following Occupational Completion Points (OCPs):
