Technology Program
Many welding processes have been developed and refined to fuse newer and stronger metal combinations. New processes are still needed for metal, ceramic and plastic parts. Skilled welders will continue to be in demand in the future. A career in welding can be learned in a variety of educational settings, such as in high school, at a trade school, in a college or university, in the military, or in an apprenticeship program.
The Advanced Welder 1 course prepares students for entry into the welding industry. Students explore career opportunities and requirements of a professional welder. Content emphasizes advanced skills key to the success of working in the welding industry. Students study intermediate and advanced Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Class-B Pipe Welder, pipe fitting fabrication techniques, and advanced Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) skills.
